The Beach Body 21 Day Fix Wasn’t What I Expected…
This was me… 78 pounds ago (260lbs). I was happy and didn’t care that my body was over weight, just kind of hit rock bottom and accepted the fact that I was big. It wasn’t until two summers ago, when my knee cap was dislocated, that I reached the decision to lose weight. My body was yelling at me and the extra weight was taking a toll.
I started my journey with a personal trainer. Like most people, it was expensive and gave excuses that a trainer was too expensive. But, since my injury, I have learned that being overweight was even more expensive and so were the injuries that came along with it. I have tried to lose weight in the past, but this time was different. I wanted to do this right, learn how to exercise and eat healthy.. not diet, but learn a new lifestyle.
I worked my butt off in the gym. 5 days a week, I was spending hours and hours trying to work away this fat. The process was slow, but it was working. I started out at 48% body fat and have dropped down to 33% in 17 months.
What I’ve learned in the last 4 months, was that working out can only take you so far into a weight loss journey. Diet is 80% of the solution and when I thought that my diet was okay, it really wasn’t.
After being on a 3 month plateau, or maybe it was even longer then that, I needed to find a new source of motivation and to just give my mind something else to focus on. I’ve been contacted, time after time, by several Beach Body coaches to sign up for their challenge groups. Try Shakeology.. eat clean.. they all say the same thing and honestly for a while it was getting tiring just listening to it.
Then I came across a coach that was more than “Shakeology”, she was inspiring, motivating and I really made a connection with her. So I gave the Beach Body 21 day fix and her challenge group a try.
The 21 Day Fix was not what I expected, at all. She started us off with a series of videos, partnered us up with other challengers so we would have extra accountability and made us take measurements and photos. Right off the bat, Shakeology was a problem for my stomach. The taste wasn’t the best.. and my stomach hated it. So I went through the challenge without it.
In the 21 days, my Beach Body coach taught me about sugar, taught me about the ingredients that I didn’t know were so bad for me and really got down and dirty to teach me about clean eating. Clean eating is hard to learn when you don’t know where to start, I’ve tried it just from reading things online.. but she made the process so easy and it now feels like second nature.
I’m not sure what I expected going into the 21 Day Fix, other than a distraction to my already frustrating plateau. But, what I came away with was truly invaluable. I lost 1.8% body fat in the 21 days, 3.75 inches and a ton of body recomposition. The best part was a break to my plateau!
I’m now down to 182 Pounds and rolling with a new source of motivation. This time, I’m giving the vegan formula a try and jumping in for round 2 of the 21 Day Fix.
Are you thinking about trying the Beach Body 21 Day Fix?
My biggest tip is this… There are many many Beach Body coaches out there, many who are just looking for people to sign up. But, don’t let them give the 21 Day Fix or Beach Body a bad name. There are coaches out there who truly want to help you, my advice is to find someone that you connect with, someone who will be there through the journey and can help you gain knowledge that you can take through the journey and beyond.

Congratulations! You look fantastic. I tried the 21 day fix but I only lasted 3 days. I’m used to Weight Watchers so having to come up with combinations was too confusing for me.

This was a great review to read. I’ve wondered about the Beach Body System before and now I have a first hand perspective. Congrats to you on your hard work! :)
You are such an inspiration. I am almost at the same starting point you were and we have the same goal. I was doing great and then hit a snag and have not been back to the gym. Ugh.
I need to take a nutrition class. I want to learn more about sugars and other stuff so that I can eat better than what I do. I am exercising but I don’t seem to be losing the weight and I think part of it is diet.
You are doing so awesome! I need to get myself into shape for the summer, and 21 Day Fix sounds like a great way to do it. Keep up the good work.
I have a friend who is a fitness instructor. She swears by Beach Body. She has had great success with it at home and then uses some of it in her classes.
So happy it works for you! I’ve heard great things about it.
