Honoring our Military Everyday Heroes
Our visit to California happened to be over Memorial weekend. During our stay, we took a moment to visit Mt. Soledad in La Jolla, California.
The Mt. Soledad memorial not only gives an amazing view of the city, it is a reflection of what our nation’s brave men and women have sacrificed to keep us safe.
The walls of this memorial were filled with pictures of those who sacrificed their life, roses were spread all over and it was the perfect opportunity to speak to my kids about what this holiday was about.
Procter & Gamble® and Dollar General have teamed up to celebrate our nation’s brave soldiers who have returned from service and are making a difference in their community.
Just as our military families have made a commitment to our country, Dollar General is committed to delivering valuable savings on America’s favorite brands every day.
To celebrate and honor military service, Dollar General chose Sparky Edwards as its Every Day Hero for June 2013.
Sparky exemplifies the Every Day Hero. He is a retired, decorated military veteran who served in South Korea and in Iraq. Once an at-risk teenager, Sparky turned his life around with the help of a National Guard youth academy. The fresh start helped him earn his GED and enter the military. Today he is a successful business owner, pursuing his PhD and paying it forward by volunteering to mentor at-risk teenagers.
Dollar General has made a commitment to bring you valuable savings on many of the popular brands you trust.
Pickup today’s paper, June 2nd, and use the brandSAVER coupons to give you even bigger discounts at Dollar General!
P&G brandSAVER coupons can be used at Dollar General to give you high quality P&G products at great prices. Some brands that you can expect to see are Tide, Gain, Downy and Febreeze.

My every day here is my hubby! He works so hard and sacrifices so much for us (he’s a police officer & works off duty shifts so I can be home with our babies). He has been an amazing support, not only for me but for my mom, after my dad passed away unexpectedly. Also my 3 year old goddaughter is my hero, she was diagnosed with cancer 5 months ago the smile that is always on her face and that sassy attitude when she’s not feeling too sick, she’s amazing.
My grandmother.
My everyday hero would be my mom and dad! My mother sacrifice many things in life for friend and loved ones. She was a wonderful woman and I was proud to call her mom. My father left home when he was 13 years old. He worked very hard all his life in spite of his childhood. He was drafted and fought in the Vietnam war. Later in life he fought two different battles of cancer. He died with much dignity with COPD.

I actually have a tie of two everyday heros, I guess I’m just super lucky! One would be my mom because she is always there and is the type of person who will sacrifice to make sure that my sisters and I have what we need. The other is my husband, who was actually in the service, because he has made so many sacrifices and continues to in trying to find some stability for our family. Where other people might have been discouraged he just keeps on planning for the future.
