Valentines Day Burlap Banner with Hearts
Hang a little love in your house this Valentine’s Day with a Burlap Valentine’s Day Banner. With a few simple materials, and a crafty hand you can put together this burlap banner with your own personal touch.
There are so many variations that you could use, from hearts, to XOXO, to Love and even a “Happy Valentines Day”.
Supplies
- Burlap, about half a yard
- Scrap fabric in colors of your choice. If you don’t have scraps then you can buy Fat Quarters at the fabric store.
- Fusible Web, about half a yard
- Ribbon or twine
- Fabric scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue
Instructions
Cut your burlap into banner pieces. I cut mine 5” by 6”. I made eight pieces and just put hearts on them all but you could do a word instead such as “LOVE” or “ BE MINE” or “XOXO”.
Follow the instructions on your fusible web to iron it on the back of your scrap fabrics. I suggest ironing on a square large enough for the shape or letter you want to cut out.
Draw the shape or letter on the back in pencil.
Cut it out with your fabric scissors.
Peel the backing off of your shape and place it on the banner piece. Remember that you’re going to fold the top down about a half inch so place it down far enough to do that. Follow the instructions on your Fusible Web to iron it on your burlap banner piece.
Hot clue your banner pieces about a half inch down on the BACK of your burlap banner piece. Remember to leave a long section of ribbon on the ends to hang it with. I glued my pieces about an inch a part.
Fold down the top section of burlap over your ribbon and glue it in place. I suggest NOT doing this on your ironing board as it stuck to mine. Ooops! Use a washable hard surface like a counter top or cutting mat.
Hang and enjoy!
You’re so right, it could work for any holiday!
I love these banners! Very versatile for any holiday or celebration!
