How to Reward Yourself & Maintain a Happy, Healthy Lifestyle | Twitter Party & Sweepstakes

Quaker Low Sugar Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal

As a parent it is so easy to put yourself last. In between daily activities of taking care of your kids, making sure they are clean, entertained, clothed and have 3 healthy meals each day, it often becomes a struggle to make sure those same needs are met in my life.

I’m guilty of this very thing.

After having a second child, my day to day activities included everything except for things involving me. Showers went from once a day to two or three times a week, meals were often skipped, most days involved me not getting dressed or even getting to brush my teeth until after lunch time.

Parenting is a daunting task and over time I have made myself realize that my health and appearance are just as important as the health and well being of my children. My children rely on me to be healthy enough to care for them and they look up to me to see the person who they will be one day.

Here are some small changes that I have made in my daily activities to help me live a happier and healthier life:

  • Make an attempt to wake up, shower and get dressed before the kids are awake.

By doing these simple things, I feel more motivated to get things done around the house, more motivated to do activities with my kids and more motivated to run out of the house for last minute errands.

  • Eat a good breakfast, my common breakfast is a bowl of Quaker Low Sugar Instant Oatmeal, a fruit and a small glass of orange juice.

By eating a nice breakfast each and every morning, I feel much more energized to take care of the many needs & wants of my children.

  • Go to bed at a decent time.

This is a hard one for me that I am still working on. Sleep is so important, we except our kids to get all of the sleep they need and often forget about the importance of our sleep. When I get 6-8 of sleep each night it helps me with my patience level while dealing with the daily moans and groans of my two children.

The benefits of a warm, filling bowl of oatmeal can keep you going all morning long.
Energy. Fiber. Heart Health.
Quaker Oatmeal. A super grain breakfast.
